Writing

Fictional

Nat has also always had both a great love of and talent for writing.  Which is to say that, throughout primary and secondary school, she won several writing competitions for both biographical non-fictional AND fictional pieces. Thus, Nat was encouraged to pursue accelerated study of VCE literature units, which she had completed all of, with top marks, by the end of year 11. And went on to initially begin writing skits and short stories for student theatre and short films, while studying both drama and media arts during her studies towards a Contemporary Arts- Drama degree.

While, after some major life events that happened around that time,  Nat took a 15 year detour of personal healing and starting a therapeutic and coaching private practice, and often drew upon the power of writing as an Expressive Arts therapy tool with clients, Nat has also long had a deep appreciation of not just the power of art and storytelling for entertainment purposes. But also the power of story in helping us grow, learn and heal beyond our own deeply personal challenges, AND current collective/societal challenges.

While Nat is less land-locked to any specific genre, and more concerned with the potential positive impact that any given story can have for it's particular target audience, she also does love a good action sci, western, dramedy, crime or medical drama that addresses themes of A.I.'s development, life on other planets and higher consciousness, DV, intergenerational trauma, overcoming mental health concerns and personal crises of meaning and purpose, as they occur across the lifespan. As much as she loves a good motivational story, in which someone overcomes an illness or "disability," or comes back from some other major life setback; the kind that gives us all hope and restores our belief in what is possible.

Below is a short sample of a couple of scenes i recently wrote and recorded for casting purposes, exploring some middle aged characters that have recently been swimming around in my head.

Non Fictional

In 2013, 3 years into private practice, Nat enrolled in studies and mentoring through Thought Leaders Business School, to learn how to extract her I.P., package it up, deliver and communicate it more effectively as an Author, Speaker, Coach, Mentor, Facilitator and Trainer, with the hope of reaching more people and making a greater positive impact in the world.  After her first clumsy year of creating short vlogs (now buried deep in the bowels of the archives of Youtube,) from 2015, Nat began regularly sharing her thoughts via her blog, live video feeds and live events.

The world has changed a lot in that time, as have Nat's viewpoints and insides. But for now, you will still find an archive of her thoughts on the subjects of human connection, effective personal and professional communication, leadership, living a life of greater meaning, passion and purpose and empowered self expression below.

What it looks like to express ones opinions, needs and wisdom, in a way that is heart and soul centred, intentional, respectful and kind, while simultaneously clear, concise, positively impactful, informative and commanding of respect, (eg saying it like it is, but being kind about it) is forever still ones of Nat's primary point of non fictional interest.

After having at first ascended into Senior Leadership in the holistic health and wellness space, and now also, in the last 4 years, having ascended into 3 consecutive Leadership positions in the Creative sector, Nat is still deeply interested in what effective, heart and soul centred Leadership looks like in action, in these trying times of disconnection, division, war and the weaponisation of words and opinions against others. Times in which Leaders with, heart, integrity, a sense of higher purpose and concern for the greater good are now needed more than ever.
