Art

Having spent the greater portion of her life living near beaches along the Southern and Eastern coast of Australia, in the states of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, Nat has long had a deep connection to and love of beach scapes.  Having also spent a lot of time in their neighbouring eucalypt forests and rainforests, the other thing that continually showed up in artworks i created during my Art Therapy studies, were trees and naturally occurring fractals. Most often in the form of unfurling ferns.  Every piece I paint though is not just a visual representation of something in nature. But also has a neo-shamanic intention painted into it. So that when you connect with it, you’re not just connecting with a landscape, you’re also connecting with the frequency, the theme and intent of it as an experience and as medicine for the soul.

The Impossible Dream

Picture
I started this one at the start of the year, when I found myself called to feel into all those BIG dreams you’ve had your whole life. The kind that you were probably rehearsing and role playing aspects of when you were a kid. Because, before the weight and realities of “life” started to press upon and impose fears and doubts about whether they’re  “possible,” some soulful part of you knew with absolute certainty that these were things that you truly love to do…and or represented experiences that your soul desired to have in this lifetime.
Painting this was truly trippy. Because as it started to unfold, I realised that this definitely wasn’t about correct colours and proportions. The clouds and the waves started moving in ways that didn’t exactly conform to the laws of 3rd dimensional earthly physics and weather patterns. Then faces, animals totems, energies, ideas, started to appear in the waves. And these were entirely the point.

In the dimension/s of this painting, one is not limited by or bound by the 3D limitations of the world, because anything is possible . And all kinds of ideas , support and resources are right there waiting for us. Often in places, coming from places and in forms that we didn’t exactly anticipate, plan for or expect.
To get the most out of this painting requires an act of surrender. Checking at the door any of one’s one’s fixed ideas and beliefs that might hold up one’s ability to live into and receive the gifts of our destined reality. And attachments to how it might happen.

The gift of this painting is to look at it anytime one starts to doubt if those dreams are really “meant to be,” and let it reconnect and realign you with the reality in which they are both possible and inevitable.
At whatever point in time this finds you, you’re most welcome to stare at it for a bit and see what comes to you in that moment. Plus in the days that follow.

A Soulful Realignment

Picture
This painting helps facilitates returning home to one's truest, soulful self and higher purpose, after times where any number of factors in life might knock us off centre. Sometimes that might be the noise of the world; countless cell and wifi signals, social media, the thoughts and opinions of others we care about, known and unknown to us, activity at work, activity at home, or the caring responsibilities we have with others, the chaotic energy of crowds, or sometimes, the kind of unplanned life events and setbacks that we didn't see coming. Any one of which can draw our focus outside of ourselves for a time.

I think for any of us really, but definitely for those of us in the world with heightened sensory and intuitive awareness, it can be easy at times to lose touch with where the outside world ends, and where we ourselves begin. So i painted this one for myself, to use a bit like a portal, that immediately connects you back to the core essence of who you really are. Calming your breathing and relaxing your nervous system as it does. Making room for the clarity of our inner, higher voice to reemerge and provide us with the insight we need to proceed, or not, in any given moment. Making space too for our unique, soulful presence, and highest potential, to "download" fully into us, then shine on out into the world.

Sunset Gratitude Ritual

Picture
In Yoga, there is a practice that Yogi's do in timing with the sunset on any given day, in movement and meditative contemplation, that creates an opportunity to both close out as best we can any unfinished mental business for the day, so that we may retire peacefully to rest. As well as to cultivate appreciation for whatever we can also be thankful for about the day that has just been, as well as to take stock of what blessings exist throughout our greater lives.

This painting too is a form of sunset gratitude ritual, that one can access any time one needs a little extra help to connect with, see and feel the bright side of life and all of the blessings and gifts that we still have, even and especially in challenging times.

The energy within it also helps to deepen and improve the quality of our relationships with others, by helping us to more clearly see and deeply appreciate the unique qualities, abilities, gifts, presence and purpose that each and every person we interact with, brings to both our lives, and the wider world around.
